Life Scout Rocco Bonsignore, Troop 143 St Viator, Las Vegas Nevada, had long planned his Eagle Project to be an affordable cooking and health handbook for low – medium income families that would include nutrition and cooking tips as well as family recipes – some of which are over 100 years old.
Then Covid 19 hit.
Quickly responding to the new needs of the Coronavirus pandemic, Rocco re-focused his efforts. After a lot of hard work and teamwork, motivation and management Rocco Bonsignore and Scouts BSA St Viator Troop 143 donated 1000 cotton masks and 500 resource books entitled – A Reference Book To Surviving Coronavirus 19 And The Pandemic Of 2020 Turning Lemons Into Lemonade to The Shade Tree.
The Shade Tree provides safe shelter to Clark County homeless and abused women and children in crisis from domestic violence and human trafficking. They offer life changing services promoting stability, dignity and self-reliance. As a result of the Covid 19 Clark County school closures over 200 children will attend school at The Shade Tree this year.
The focus of the 91-page Reference Book is how to stay safe and well in a pandemic, how to live a normal life, and how to use the time to get ahead. In addition to gathering, summarizing and listing what authorities, such as the Center for Decease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend, the content includes Rocco’s take and advice on topics ranging from how to make a safe masks to managing stress to healthy diet and exercise tips as well as recipes. Other sections suggest ways to turn your living space into summer cottage and have fun. An abbreviated bonus section gives tips on how to be safe at school.
Rocco also donated masks to his troop as well as the Las Vegas Area Counsel Scouts BSA Head Quarters. A free download of Rocco’s Reference Book to Surviving Coronavirus 19 And the Pandemic Of 2020 Turning Lemons into Lemonade is available at www.classactions.us
